Oh, this kid cracks us up. Here are some recent funnies we've heard:
On the drive home last week (on a Mavericks playoff game night)
Me: are we gonna watch basketball on tv tonight?
Her: (without skipping a beat) No, I wats beese ball. (that's "watch baseball" for those who don't understand 2-year old speak)
Riding with Daddy in the car last Friday, sitting at a red light. Car next to them turned right and she watched for a second and said, "Hey, come back car!"
Getting her ready for bed last night, I noticed she needed her nose wiped. Told her I needed to get that booger, to which she replied, "No, I pick it."
When leaving a room: "I be-wite back."
She's getting really good at her ABCs and numbers!
(And yes, those are scratches on her face from a kid at daycare....that's a whole other story.)
And her opposites (and still signing them):
And every night before bed, we say our family prayer:
Dear Lord, Thank you for Mommy, thank you for Daddy, thank you for Zoe and thank you for Madie. Amen.
"Dear Lord, Thank you for Mommy, thank you for Mommy, thank you for Daddy, thank you for Zoe, thank you for Mommy and thank you for Madelyn. Amen."
I absolutely LOVE this stage. Challenging at times, yes, but seeing that little mind flourish is just indescribable.

In the Country
Love, love, love taking trips to the country. Easter weekend also consisted of a trip to the country so Daddy could go turkey hunting. It was a quick trip, but we had so much fun (and Daddy got a turkey). PawPaw and Bubba definitely kept us busy while we were there.
First thing, though, was to meet Bubba's new baby bobcats. Yes. Bobcats. His former boss found some babies in a trap, so you know who jumped at the chance to raise them. My brother is something else (and I mean that in a good way). :)

We spent some time picking up limbs that had blown down during a recent storm. Someone looked way too cute to be doing such hard labor.

There they go!

Riding in the pasture to dump the limbs. Yes, I trust him.

Checking out Daddy's turkey! The only thing she said was, "Turkey seeping." Yes, Sweetheart. A very long and restful sleep...

We worked in the garden. She tried (and liked) fresh peas!

But she liked the dirt better.

Then we took a tour of Bubba's new ranch! We are SO glad that he's working just minutes from home now doing what he loves. He's in charge of the deer management program and the overall operation of the ranch. We are so proud of you, Bub!
We got to check out some of the elk shed antlers.

Ant & I were away from the house for a few hours on Friday, and during that time, someone had way too much fun with Dede and Bubba.
We recently found out she has a love/hate relationship with mustard. Eats it, says "no like," but then asks for more. Of course, Bubba & Dede had to see for themselves...
Oh, and while we were out, she also got another driving lesson.
Oh, what a nice trip it was. Can't wait till we call the country our home once again.

Our Easter
Sweet girl and I attended our HOA's annual Easter egg hunt the weekend before Easter this year. I figured she'd be freaked out by the Easter Bunny (like she was with Santa Clause), so I started talking up the big guy several days before hand. When he pulled up to the egg hunt, she was surprisingly very excited to see him. We were standing back in the crowd, and she actually took off and went straight up to him to say hi -- I couldn't believe it!

They divided the kids up by age, so she did get a few eggs to take home. She was more fascinated with "Easser Bunny" and kept looking for him rather than picking up eggs, though!
"Were da Easser Bunny go?"

After the hunt, she FINALLY got to go take her picture with the Easter Bunny.

But she wanted to hang out with him and show him something...

Sweet girl. :)

And then she found the Easter Bunny again. And she ran to him and proceeded to show him how to hop. What a ham.

:) And here, a month later, she STILL talks about the Easter Bunny.
On Easter Sunday, we went to church, found a basket full of goodies that the Easter Bunny left behind, and then had a nice, relaxing family day. It was awesome.

Reminiscing...
I never shared this video, but it's one I love to watch and watch again. This was taken 8/23/10 @ 16 months. We were watching the Rangers game, and when they played some music during a replay, the sweet girl thought that was just the best dance music ever. So we rewound it, played it, rewound it, and replayed it again, and again... :) Oh, sweet girl. We love you so much.
Chatty Madie @ 24 Months
"I like youw sannals Mommy." - Said this to me last Wednesday as she ran to me at daycare pickup, obviously noticing that I had on sandals instead of my usual black flats... Made my day. :)
This morning, it was "I like youw eawings, Mommy."
This morning, it was "I like youw eawings, Mommy."
"I do dat." - Says this to EVERYTHING.
Every time she hears Zoe go out or come in the dog door, she reminds us that "Zoe go poo poo ousside on da gass."
"Donnanin" = Vitamin (and also her friend Donovan from daycare)
"One, two, free, sennen, eight, nine, ten!!!!!!" - We're still working on four, five, six...
"AIRPANE!" - I never noticed how many planes fly over our house until she figured out what an airplane was. She loves airplanes and points out every single one with just as much excitement as the last.
Last night I gave her a taste of a brownie, which she thought was cake. A few minutes after I told her it was chocolate "cake," she asked for "more shockit, pease!"
This weekend she and I went browsing at a few shops while Daddy was working. We saw a little girl get a swat on the hiney after she disobeyed her Mommy. I explained to Madie that she got a spanking because she didn't listen to her Mommy, and we went over (and over and over) that you have to listen to your Mommy or you might get a spanking like that little girl (even though we don't spank her). Last night, she was being difficult during bathtime, so I firmly reminded her that we listen to Mommy. She then pointed to her hiney and said, "I get a spankin, pease." Oh, my goodness.
