32-Week Update

I had my 32-week appointment last week, and everything is still going very well. I did learn that my OB just adopted a baby girl last week, so she is out on maternity leave until April 1!! Apparently the birth mother decided very last minute, so my doctor didn't have time to tell her patients that she'd be out. I'm very happy and excited for her, but I just hope my baby girl doesn't come early! I've never even met the other doctor at her practice!

My platelet count is still staying consistently low. We'll be fine as long as it doesn't take a big dip. I will also have another ultrasound at 34 weeks to check little girl's growth. The PA told me that they will not let me go much past my due date, so she will definitely be here by at least April 16! :)

This week I also found a new love for Tums. I've never had heartburn in my life -- until now! Eat a sandwich. Heartburn. Eat a banana. Heartburn. But if that's all I have to complain about, I think I have it pretty good! :)

We're also in big-time nesting mode around our house. I've been organizing and purging closets, bookshelfs and cabinets, and last weekend Mom came up to help go through some stuff and pick out baby gear. Andrea came up this week on her vacation and ran all my errands. And this weekend, Ralph & Kathy came up to help us deep clean the house. I can't tell you how big of a help they have all been! I also finally washed and organized all the hand-me-downs we received from my coworker. This little girl has a closet full!

And finally, last night we went to a new-mom presale for a local baby/kids consignment sale. We found some really great deals! I highly recommend going to one of these in your area if you can!

Weekend in NZ

The weekend before last we made our last trip to North Zulch (well, our last one without a baby!!). We started the weekend by stopping in Corsicana to stock up on Russell Stover candy! We got to see my old coworker and friend Pat when we stopped. I don't think I've ever had any other coworkers that I've loved as much as Pat! We used to have so much fun making candy gift baskets and restocking samples - oh, the good old days. Anytime we see her, we usually talk and talk and talk. And we did this time, too. We had to hurry our shopping so that we could make it to miss Katherine's little dribbler game!

Our next stop was in Elkhart at Katherine's game. She kicked butt! She's super quick and hustles like no other. She also outscored the other team with 8 points in their 20-6 win! She had quite a few steals and assists, too! We can't wait to see another game, and I'm sure we'll have lots of fun watching her once she gets into high school!

We spent the rest of the weekend hanging out with the family at Ralph & Kathy's. We celebrated Grandma Shaw's birthday on Sunday evening with a wonderful steak and lobster dinner and two chocolate cakes! The food was fantastic, and it was great to spend so much time with Grandma Shaw before she heads back to the cold country this week.

During dinner Kaylie just picked at her food, and we kept reminding her that she had to eat dinner before she could have dessert. When the cakes came out, she looked at Ant and said "I forgot to eat!" I can't wait to see what she comes up with next...

Metro Mom!

Yep, that's me! I found out about a local group of moms and moms-to-be through an online message board, so I decided to go to one of their events last week. I had a lot of fun! We got to visit with the girls, eat dinner and dessert and draw for prizes. I won an awesome little sling - something I was definitely going to buy anyway! We also all received goody bags with Baby Legs (I LOVE these!!), formula and other fun stuff! I'm really looking forward to more fun events!

30 Weeks!

Today actually marks 31 weeks, but I haven't updated in a while...

We had our 30-week ultrasound last week, and the results were good! The placenta has moved up and out of the way, so we don't have to schedule a c-section! I am so relieved! I know c-sections are sometimes necessary, and by all means, I want my baby to be okay, but it's just not how I always imagined giving birth. It kind of takes the experience away from it all. Our little lady was being shy during the session, so we didn't get many good pictures. She had her head turned to my back, so all we could see was an ear here, a foot there, oh, and hair! Yep, she already has hair - or little fuzzies, at least (I have a feeling it's dark brown like her Daddy's)! They also measured her at 3 pounds, 12 ounces - that puts her a week ahead of schedule! The PA said that I will discuss the results with my doctor at my next appointment, but they may end up doing another growth ultrasound at 36 weeks. If she's still measuring large then, they may want to induce a week or so early.

I am still feeling great. Some aches and pains have started to set in, but I'm sure all this weight would be hard on anyone! Baby girl's kicks - and movements in general - are getting very strong nowadays! A few have even hurt! When I lie down to sleep at night, she definitely lets me know if she's uncomfortable. Last night I laid on my right side (the side she usually prefers), and she went crazy kicking me on that side. I turned over to my left, and she didn't like that either. Needless to say, Momma didn't get much good sleep! I am also beginning to be able to distinguish her body parts (as weird as that sounds) and how she's positioned. It is so amazing and I'm loving every single minute of being pregnant right now. I have been so blessed to have had such an easy pregnancy so far.
