We spoke too soon...

Well, if you were quick enough to catch my last blog while it was up, the house contract is no more. We didn't want to tell too many people about the house in case things didn't work out, and, of course, as soon as I make an announcement, it's over!

We terminated the contract today, on the last day of our option period.We had everything ready to go, but the seller would not agree to fix a drainage issue in the side/back yard. It may seem like something small, but we talked to several drainage guys, and this could potentially be something very big. It might also be affecting the foundation, which we were already a little wary about. Since the sellers were only willing to give us a couple hundred bucks for the repair, we said forget it. We wasted a lot of time, effort and money on the inspection, engineer, etc., but we're not willing to buy into a potential money-pit.

So, we're back to square one: looking for a new realtor. We are not happy with the way things have gone the last few weeks, and we think it's best to just start completely over, despite her already giving us a guilt trip.

Oh, well. At this point we're already over it and ready for a break from this stress! Everything happens for a reason - hopefully we'll find out soon what that reason is.

Distinguished Alumni Gala

I have been asked for the second year in a row to narrate the UTA Distinguished Alumni Gala videos!

Of course, it doesn't hurt that I used to work for the department that produces the video segments, but it's still a real honor to represent the university! There have been several other narrators since I graduated, but when I worked on the videos as a student, Karen Borta from KTVT in Dallas was the voice of the Gala! I actually got to meet her through my work! I'm so excited that they've now chosen me!

Ziegfest '07

This weekend we made our second annual trip to the Ziegenbock Music Festival in Bryan. Last year Justin, Anthony and I went - this year we added Andrea, Jason and a few of our friends from Dallas.

As soon as we arrived, the heavens opened up! We got soaked, ran and sat in the car, and just when we thought the rain had let up (and we got out of the car), it rained again! Everyone at the festival was soaked and it was incredibly muddy - but it was a ton of fun!
