Life at Two

Life at two is pretty awesome. The sweet girl has turned into this curiously smart little GIRL -- no longer a baby. She's thinned out, lost those sweet little baby rolls and has pretty much stolen our hearts and run away with them. She's sweet, kind and caring - everything we need and more.

Our big girl is full of personality. She's not quite as shy anymore around strangers, and she loves to greet and say goodbye and giggle to people we pass in the grocery store or at the park or wherever our adventures take us. She is definitely a talker - not so sure where that comes from, although I do hope she stays that way. We hear "Whassat?" all. day. long. But I love that she's curious and wants to learn about her world. I try to give detailed explanations, which always lead to more and more "Whassat?"s.

She loves to sing. Some of her favorites are her ABCs, Twinkle Twinkle, Itsy Bitsy Spider, any song from "Baby Tine," Ring Around the Rosie, and probably many more that I can't think of right now. I often notice her quietly singing to herself while she's playing, taking a bath and in the car. She'll even grab toys and pretend that they're microphones!

She loves to be "ousside." The kid definitely needs a place in the country one of these days so she can run free. She will run from tree to tree to the bubble machine back to the tree... "Go ousside" is usually the first request when we get home every evening.

Some of her favorites right now are Sesame Street, Elmo's World (and singing the theme song), playing "kitchen" and making Mommy & Daddy toast, ice cream or soup, "shumping" on her trampoline, eating at the "ousside table." She still loves to "wok" in the rocking chair before bedtime every night.

She loves to help brush her teeth, bathe, brush her hair, put on lotion and pick out her shoes and hair bows. She's used the potty a few times but is not quite ready for full on potty training. She is still sleeping in her crib, even though we have the big girl bed ready for when she is. She hasn't shown any interest in climbing out, so we'll probably keep her there for a while longer.

She's still doing great at daycare, and is still somewhat of a picky eater. She'll usually eat anything except veggies (she will eat sweet potatoes, broccoli and avocado - which we have at every meal now). She's still growing tall and strong at 26 pounds (50th percentile) and 35 1/2 inches (90th percentile).

Our big girl gives the best hugs and sugars, and she surprises us with them all the time. She is very affectionate, and we totally eat it up. Life is so great at two, and we enjoy and cherish every moment with her. I don't know how we could have any more fun than we already are. :)
