We flew into New Jersey on Friday morning and took a shuttle to our hotel. Our room wasn’t ready, so we checked our luggage and headed to Rockafeller Center, where we had tickets to go to the “Top of the Rock” observation deck. We were on the 69th floor on top of the building. The view was amazing! It was a bit chilly and very windy, but it was fun picking out landmarks and taking pictures.
After the Rock, we headed back to the hotel to check in and get ready for the Yankees! We walked down to Grand Central Station and took the subway to the stadium – an interesting experience. We probably stuck out like typical tourists, but we made it there without getting lost! This game was the third to last game in Yankees Stadium, and it was a great one! Although it was cold and windy, I have honestly never been to a game that fun and exhilarating! The fans packed the stadium and were so into the game the entire time. And they eat cracker jacks like crazy. They probably sell more cracker jacks than beer at the games (well, almost). At the end of the game, fans were walking out high fiving each other as “New York, New York” blared over the PA system. It was really a neat feeling to be a part of it all.
The new Yankees Stadium - opens next year
