Trip to the Country

Growing up, I couldn't wait to move to the city. Now, I can't wait to move back. I love going to visit our families in the country. There's this sense of peace, calm and kindness that you just don't see in the city (or the 'burbs).

In February, we took a much needed relaxing trip to the country. We hadn't been since October, so we were all very excited to be back "home." We were especially excited to visit with Justin, who finally moved back after two long years of working in South Texas.

We also had a fun playdate at the park with one of Mommy's best buddies (since the 4th grade!) and her sweet little guy. Last time we saw each other, the babies were only a month and four months old old! It's been too long!

She also got a little driving lesson while we were there. And she successfully steered clear of the pecan tree, unlike her Mama did quite a few years ago.


One of these days we'll have our swing on our big front porch off some lonely dirt road. One of these days...

Miranda Lambert!

Last month my sister and I saw Miranda in concert at Billy Bob's. She seems so down to earth and *real,* and I love that she's from Small Town Texas and writes songs that I totally get. If you can't tell, she is one of my favorites!

Sister & me! Andrea is always way more stylish than me, further proven by the fact that she had on nearly the exact same outfit as Miranda. Only thing missing was the fringe boots.


Unfortunately (or fortunately, sister?) I didn't bring the "big" camera so we didn't get very good shots of her on stage.



She covered a couple of old(er) country songs, one of which used to be one of Justin's most favoritest songs ever. I think we may still have the tape.


We had such a fun time, just like we always do at our concerts. I am so lucky to have such a great friend in my sister!

To The Park

Oh, nice weather, how we've missed you! Last year we made a habit out of going to a nearby park several times a week, and we're so excited to get back in that routine. It's already more fun since the sweet girl now loves to climb on the equipment and go down both big slides all by herself. She's not really into the swings as much right now - there are just too many other things she'd rather be climbing on or running around doing!

February Fun

Wow, time has flown this year! We have been busy - but with nothing in particular. Just busy having fun, I guess. Here are a few pics from our fun times last month.

February was such a fun month. She really started using her imagination playing with, taking care of and talking to her babies, and she also decided she loves her kitchen. She got really good at singing her ABCs and even started counting (although her 'counting to ten' goes more like two, free, sebben, eight, TEN!!).

Man, this parenthood thing is awesome.

Reading A Favorite Book...

She usually won't sit still long enough for us to read a book to her, but she loves "reading" books to us. And can you tell that she kind of likes these guys?

Pretty & Polite

I have to document this here (because I've been very bad on the baby book - I guess this is the baby book) because I just can't stand the cuteness. The sweet girl is miss manners nowadays. She is getting good at saying please, but she often has to be reminded. She also knows how to say (and in appropriate context) thank you, "bess you," "sowwy," and the most recent, "moose me" (excuse me). I laughed out loud last night as we were sitting in her room and I was blocking her from opening her dresser drawer. After trying to pick up and move my leg so she could get into her drawer, she looked at me and said "moose me, Mommy." How can I resist?! I LOVE seeing the sweet little polite personality coming through!!
