Snow Day(s)

I think you all remember the ice week we had two weeks ago... the kiddo and I were stuck in the house for three days straight, but thankfully, on that fourth day, we got about three inches of real, fluffy snow! We made it outside to enjoy our (hopefully) LAST snow event of the year. Unfortunately, we got more the next week - which we did not go outside to play in...

Throwing snowballs back at Daddy

At least we got two uses out of the 24-month ski bibs.

Favorite phrases:

I silly.
Cut it out. *we don't say this, so my guess is she hears it a lot at daycare!
Malalyn *I often hear her saying it to herself with the same inflection I use when she's doing something she's not supposed to. so it's more like, "Malalyyyyn???"
LOVES singing her ABC's, and can remember many of the letters in the song
Tay tuu, Mommy. (thank you)

This kid cracks me up with the new things she says/comprehends every day. Just this evening, we were running around outside after we got home, and she kept running over to the step by the front door. She'd point to the brick and say, "Sit, Mommy," and then as soon as I did, she'd take off running. I'd jump up to chase her, and we'd repeat it all over again. She also copies pretty much everything we say now, so we have to watch our mouths a little more carefully now. Several weeks ago I slipped when I thought I accidentally downloaded a virus on our computer, and for a few minutes after, she walked around saying, "sit, sit, sit...". Thankfully she soon forgot and "sit" is now associated with "on your hiney-bo," as evident by this evening's fun. :)

First Ponytail

The poor kid has my hair. Straight as a board and super duper thin. But guess what we managed last week?

Maybe we'll be able to get it all in the ponytail by the time she's 3.

Her Name

I began this post on January 25th, but I never posted it because I wanted to include the video (which I can't figure out how to get off our new video camera...).

So our kid can officially say her name.

"Mannalyn Kate" or sometimes "Malalyn"

She loves to point at her wall initial letters and repeat her name after I say it, but she kind of looks at me like I'm stupid when I say "Rodriguez." Yeah, that one might take a while.

Well, yesterday, she said it. When we're changing diapers or putting on her pj's/clothes, we always look up and talk about her wall initial letters and what they stand for. I pointed to the M - Mannalyn. K - Kate. And then R (usually it's another 'Kate') - Woweegez. !!!!!

She wouldn't say it again immediately, but she did say it again last night when I was on the phone with my mom. I have to get this on video asap. Cutest thing ever. Oh, how I love this kid!

"Christmas" in NZ

We had such a hectic December that we didn't have a chance to have our Rodriguez Christmas. So we had it the second weekend of January. ;)

As usual, we had a great time visiting with the fam, and the sweet girl had a great time playing with her cousins, uncles, "Gamma", "Gapa/Pappa" and Gigi. And she's finally getting their names down, too.

She just LOVES her Kat. Although she kept confusing her with Lana....

Presents galore! These kids aren't spoiled at all...

My loves. :)

Snow Day. Sort Of.

Sunday before last we had a lovely snow day. But we didn't go outside and play in it - we'd had enough of that in New Mexico. Instead, after we got home from church, we stayed in, stayed warm, played and enjoyed a lazy day with just the three of us. After her nap, I offered her fruit (which she ate) and goldfish (which she loves). Silly Mommy should have known not to eat chips and salsa while offering goldfish to the kiddo. So in the end, we both enjoyed chips and salsa.

(blurry cell phone pic - but you get the gist...the kid LOVES salsa, just like Mommy & Daddy)
