Anthony has been working his part time gig a couple of Saturdays a month, so I've been anxious to get out of the house and away from the chores that I should be doing. I found a fun kids' jump/bounce/play place and have already taken the sweet girl there several times.
After a little hesitation on the first visit, she got the hang of the slide, trampoline and tunnels and had a blast! They have a toddler area so it wasn't too hectic (despite the random big kids who wandered in from time to time), and I was so proud to see her playing like such a big girl on her own and with the other kids.
And this just makes me smile. She's usually very shy and tends to hang on me when we're out and about. But here, she was all about that slide. Didn't care if the big kids were in her way or anything. She had so much fun. :)

New Mexico Trip
The day after Christmas, Andrea, the kiddo and I packed up and drove to Ruidoso, New Mexico, where we met Dad, Micki, Bubba and Lana. We had a great time in the warm weather the next few days. Anthony flew out there on the 28th, and the following day, a snowstorm hit us! We enjoyed the snow, some of our group (me not included) enjoyed skiing, and we just had a good time hanging out with the whole crew.
Instead of posting tons of pics, I've made a video. Again. I guess that's just what I do. :)
And this song title has a special meaning. The night the snow hit, Justin, Lana, Ant & I were in town for several hours. When we tried to make it back to the house, the road was already too slick and we couldn't make it. So we slid down the hill, parked the car and hiked up the mountain in the dark. In the snow and wind. At 1 am. The house was just "up around the bend," about a mile later.
Ah, fun times. :)

Chatty Madie @ 21 Months
I chuckle to myself almost every time she says something. That sweet little voice finally figuring out all these new words... It's so funny to hear what she comes up with sometimes.
Mmmm. Money (complete with the proper inflection in Mmmm). = Mmmm. Yummy.
Ahk-a-knee = elephant
Colo mink = color pink (her favorite color)
Eeos = cheerios
Baby tine = Baby Signing Time
Hailey = apparently all babies and dolls are named Hailey :)
a-NEN = amen (she's finally saying it correctly now, but it was "anen" for a while. Cutest thing ever.)
She is also a very polite little girl, always saying "date du Mommy" after I do something for her, and sometimes when she wants something from me. We still have to remind her to ask please when she wants something, but she always gives us a sweet grin when she says it. It's really hard to say no...
Other favorite phrases & words:
-"No Mommy, no Mommy, no Mommy!" regardless of who she's telling no. Why am I always the bad guy?

Our Christmas
We woke up Christmas morning to find that Santa had found our house!
We enjoyed a pancake breakfast together before heading to church. Afterward, we opened presents and enjoyed our precious family time.
She is in love with her new Elmo.
Rock! Rock! Rock! or, wok! wok! wok!
The best gift ever! Her very own "mink macuum."
Mom, I think you missed a spot.
Cheese! Mommy's little helper.
She also loved Mommy's new shades. :)
That afternoon, the girl and I both enjoyed a long nap, something I haven't had in forever! Andrea then joined us for our gourmet Christmas dinner before spending the evening packing our bags for our New Mexico trip the next day. We were so thankful our sweet girl wasn't showing any more signs of the stomach bug she had the days before. It was a wonderful day.

Christmas Time Fun
These are just a few memories and photos I want to remember from this holiday season.
We kicked off the season this year by visiting Santa. We only had to walk a few houses down, since our HOA brings him to our neighborhood every year. You probably remember that she didn't really like him very much. But she did love the goody bag and little bottle of water his elf gave her. She got to eat a chocolate chip cookie on the ride home and loved it.
We made our own special snowman ornament this year instead of buying one. This one means so much more than any store bought one ever will.
She tried (and shared) a Christmas tree spritz cookie.
Her absolute favorite ornament this year was the baseball. She made sure to point it out to us every evening.

She was obsessed with this particular present - like she knew what was inside (Volumes 3 and 4 of Baby Signing Time). She carried this present (and only this present) around every evening. She played with it. She shook it. She stood on it. She absolutely loved it. :)
Our little ham. Although it's a bit out of focus, this captures her so well. She is such a silly little thing, and we had such a fun time with all things Christmas this year.

Christmas Eve
This Christmas was almost gobbled up by the stomach bug.
We were scheduled to spend a few days before Christmas with Mom, but the sweet girl ended up coming down with a bug a few days before. She seemed to get over it pretty quickly and felt good enough to go to work with Mommy on the 23rd. That night, though, the bug returned. She woke up starving on Christmas Eve morning, but everything she ate came right back up. We saw the doctor, who just told us not to feed her for 4-5 hours. :( It wasn't a very fun morning.
She finally woke up from a nap that afternoon back to her old self. She held down some food and water, so we decided to go visit the fam for at least a few hours.
We drove down to Mom's that evening, and despite a crazy long drive (saw 6 accidents in the first 20 miles...), we made it there safely and were able to surprise everyone. We were all so out of sorts - in comfy clothes and pjs, hair in pony tail, no camera... It had been a long day (and night before), but we were thankful to be able to see the family for a short bit.
Not so sure I remember this guy...
Okay, guys. Seriously?
Opening the new baby, who was promptly named Hailey. My guess is she's heard us talk about our friends' baby Hailey once or twice. ;)
Checking out the goods, including my new pj pants.
Playing the piano with Opa. Little does she know she'll be taking lessons one of these days. Only because my Mom made me. Because her mom made her.
Although our visit was short, it was oh, so sweet. I am so glad we got to see Mom and Brother and Sister. We just don't get to do that often enough these days.

GRADUATION!!!
Yes, I'm screaming in that title. I GRADUATED!!
Three and a half years ago I decided to go back to school. I thought it would be quick and relatively painless. But I was wrong. I had a pretty easy time in undergrad, but I studied journalism and broadcast news - things that came easy to me. Grad school was different. Accounting and finance and everything in between was tough. Throw buying a house and having a baby into the mix and it was a challenging three and a half years. But I did it. I DID IT!! Now I can officially sign my name Amanda Rodriguez, MBA. Not that I would. But I could. ;)
Thank you Mom, Dad, Mike, Sister, Ant and Sweet girl for being there for me. I was so proud to share my big day with my favorite people!
